In 2010, a group of six writers took a workshop with author Anita Daher. The attendees bonded over the weeks of the program and afterwards they formed The Anita Factor, children’s writers’ group. Then commenced a journey of friendship and a love of writing for youth of all ages.
Over a one year period in 2014 and 2015, nearly every member published a book. This was like winning the publishing lottery — for so many writers from one writers’ group to be published in such close succession, is quite an impressive feat. Deborah Froese is the award-winning author of picture book, The Wise Washerman; contemporary young adult novel, Out of the Fire; and picture book, Mr. Jacobson’s Window.
Gabriele Goldstone is the author of Soviet Union historical middle grade series, Red Stone (book one), and Broken Stone (book two) coming in November 2015.
Although not yet published, Christina is a wonderful writer. She is a true creative, making beautiful home decor and decorated cakes.
Melanie Matheson is the award-winning author of picture book, Hokey Dowa Gerda and the Snowflake Girl.
Patricia Trottier is the author of educational teacher resource book, Relationships Make the Difference.
Larry Verstraete is the one “Anito” in a group of “Anitas.” Larry is an award-winning author of over a dozen non-fiction books for kids and published his first middle grade novel, Missing in Paradise in 2014.
